I’m Andrea Acosta, a young Colombian girl, passionate about adventures
and discovering new experiences. I’m 26 years old and a biologist, so I love
exploring nature. During my childhood, I lived in a small town with my
mother, stepfather and my siblings but when I was 16 years old, I moved to
another city, Tunja, which that is very cold. There I studied at the university
for 6 years and then I moved to the other cities where I worked for several
years.
These experiences have allowed me to meet many people from different
backgrounds and to adapt to various environments. Being away from home
and interacting with diverse individuals has helped me mature and grow as
a person. I have become more patient, tolerant, and effective in
communication to resolve misunderstandings.
In my daily routine, I am very active, organized, resolute, and dynamic. I
enjoy spending quality time with my family, friends, and my pets. In my free
time, I enjoy exploring new places, trying different gastronomies and
capturing moments through photography. Additionally, I like to read,
exercise and I love animated movies. I’m a very active person and enjoy
outdoor activities such as hiking, camping or going for a walk.
I have had the opportunity to share with children for a long time. I have
helped take care of my neighbors' grandchildren ranging in age from 0 to
11 years old. I have taken care of them on weekends and during my
vacations where I am in charge of helping to change diapers, preparing
food, and accompanying them in recreational activities. .
I have also taken care of my cousin María Paula since her birth, when she
was a baby, I took care of her every Friday. Here I was in charge of her
daily bath, diaper change, bottle preparation, activities to entertain her and
sleeping nap her. Later, during the time pandemic , I had to take care of her
for 8 months because her mother had to work in another city and María
Paula was a walking child and I couldn't expose her to the virus. At this
time I was completely in charge of taking care of her; from waking her up,
preparing her food, washing her clothes, recreational activities and even
ending the day by taking her to her bed while she read her stories. I
remember that she loved to dance and explore in nature. Nowadays, Maria
Paula is 5 years old and I still share with her on weekends and during her
vacations.
Now, I take care of my neighbors' children on weekends and on vacation, I
have also learned to drive a car and it has been a great help since we can
do more activities independently of their parents.
These experiences allowed me to get to know the children and I learned
that I like to spend time with them. I enjoy the children's curiosity and
ability to learn, I love to read children's stories, go to the park and I like the
activities that require creativity and imagination. As well as, I know that
looking after the children is an activity that requires commitment,
dedication, patience and tolerance. I know that I am a committed and
responsible person and I look after the care of the children.
It is because of the above that I want become in Au pair because I love
spend time with children and I thinks that it’s a great opportunity to
immerse myself in an enriching experience, where I can learn about a new
culture and improve my English language.
I will travel to the USA because I consider that it is a country for
discovering, learning and growing. Besides, I like the country because of
the opportunities to know places, gastronomes and new people that
exchange other cultures. I would like my year as an Au pair to have
beautiful and new experiences.
