I am looking for someone who is mature, organized and who enjoys being part of a team. Someone who loves to be healthy and adores being out in nature... We live surrounded by lots of trees and some have called it the woods! We have neighbors not too far away but we are surrounded by nature... it is important that you are comfortable in a rural but beautiful natural setting. At the same time, we are about 1 hr from NYC.
We would love to have someone who has enthusiasm and takes pride in their work. Someone who has maturity and professionalism, and a playful heart. Someone who is a self-starter and wants to jump in and help with whatever needed. We would love for them to be with our family for a few years. I am looking for someone who has experience driving in the winter too. Ideally, if you have your own all-wheel drive car, you will have a much more fun time here.
I am a single mom, and an international yoga therapist for over 30 years and have recently started a healing center and a therapeutic yoga studio. I also work with a not for profit organization, which focuses on environmental and cultural preservation around the world. So sometimes I need to travel because of that.
We are very health oriented and spiritual family. We love nature and we animals and try to spend as much time as we can outside in the gorgeous beauty we are surrounded by. We have a cat and a huge all black German Shepard. We love to hike in woods or on the Appalachian Trail (which is in our backyard), horseback ride, bike ride, camp, sled, ice skate and. We also enjoy traveling, going to the movies, make art, reading books, cooking, and music. My kids got to go to the Waldorf School for a while and we embraced many things from there. The kids love to make art... We love to sing songs and celebrate the time we have together with our family date night. We rarely watch TV, but we do love movies.. We love to learn about other cultures, their food, customs, ideas, music, spirituality, etc. I am looking for someone who can make my demanding, busy life a little bit easier and with whom I can share some of my healthy lifestyle habits with and who can become part of our family.

Over the past 17 years, we have always had such beautiful additions to our extended family... Nanny’s and Aupairs.
We have hosted people who participate in “Woofing” or work exchange programs for room and board. We love having people become part of our family because we all get to experience another part of the world through them. We love the cultural exchange. We have been blessed with many beautiful people inside and out who have shared much with us over these years.
The most important quality in a person we hire is a loving and joyful heart; someone who loves working with young people and knows how to relate and communicate with respect and care and like to have fun. Other qualities would be a creative, balanced and highly organized and flexible approach to life. I need help with keeping ahead of all the many demands of my work and personal life. We would love to hire a person who enjoys helping with needs to be done; someone who sees what needs to be done and pitches in and doesn't always have to be asked. What has made things work well in the past was having someone who had the ability to communicate effectively and who was disciplined and consistent with what they committed to doing. Some personal assistant work in needed as well.
We need someone who is either from the US or already has a J1 visa already in place.
They are great kids and have had nanny's and Aupair's living with them most of their lives and love them. Most of them all still stay in touch with us, and at least 5 of them have all become yoga teachers as a result of living with us! Part of my work is that I train yoga teachers and have a studio, healing center as part of our home.
Some of our past nannies/ aupairs have even moved to the area, gotten married and have babies of their own and live down the road from us. We consider them part of our permanent extended family. Living with any family can have its ups and downs. We have done it for the past 17 years pretty successfully, and as long as there is excellent open communication, respect and clear expectations and commitment to what we agree to... all works out to be good for everybody.
We are located in the Hudson Valley Region of New York state, about a 1-hour trip to New York City. The train that goes to the city runs along the scenic Hudson River. The Hudson Valley area is considered one of the most beautiful areas this close to New York City. So you have the best of both worlds, gorgeous natural settings and proximity to New York City which has everything you could imagine.
